Reason #1
When parents push their kids too hard, it often results in injuries. This is because when parents push their kids to practice hour upon hour, they are at a higher risk of potentially being injured. Then, if the child does get injured, the child will most likely lay back on their parents instructions to practice day after day. The parents who are pushing them, may have trouble accepting that their kid isn't following that instruction, and may push them even harder. Also, kids are participating in so many sports activities, that they don't get any time off to let their muscles rest up. Every night a week, kids should have a night free of extracurricular activity, so that their muscles are allowed time to rest.
Reason #2
Another effect of parents pushing their kids too hard is that they may demolish their child’s goals or dreams. The child may never want to play a certain sport, but if they have pushy parent, the parent makes them. Also, if the child starts out playing a sport for the love of the game and for enjoyment, and the parent decides to push them, the player might only continue to play the game to please the parent. Then, if the child makes a mistake, the parent will get mad at them at demolish their self esteem. The child may just not want to play the sport anymore, but pleasing their parent is what they have to do. This upsets me that people do that to do their kids and don’t let them have a voice. This is just another reason that pushing kids in sports is bad.Another effect of parents pushing their kids too hard is that they may demolish their child’s goals or dreams. Reason #3
A third reason parents may push their kids is that, when they were a kid, they may have failed a sport. They want their child to perform much better than they did to make up for themselves, therefore they push them.
Reason #4
When parents encourage their child too much, or approval continuously, a shift may occur in the child’s motivation. The kid may attach a lot to self approval and then he or she will think that that is what makes up their overall worth. They may think that their counting on them so much not to make a mistake and then that becomes the goal in the sport, pleasing the parent.
